The Journey Unveiled

Spanning over a decade, Bazm-e-Urdu Dubai has recognized luminaries such as Shamshur Rahman Faruqi, Javed Akhtar, Mushtaq Ahmad Yusufi, Bashir Badr, Gopichand Narang, and Mustansar Hussain Tarar. These prominent figures have been honored for their literary contributions, showcasing devotion, enthusiasm, and profound expertise in the Urdu language.

A Special Recognition: The “Josh-e-Urdu” Award

In a recent event held at Centurion Restaurant in Wave Mall, Professor Waseem Barelvi was bestowed with the prestigious “Josh-e-Urdu” award. Professor Barelvi, an internationally acclaimed poet, commands a diverse fan base, including common individuals, literary personalities, high-ranking officials, ministers, and judges across various spectrums.

Born as Zahid Hasan in Bareilly on February 8, 1940, Professor Barelvi adopted the pen name Waseem Barelvi. He served as a professor of Urdu language in various colleges and universities, eventually becoming the head of the Urdu department at Rohilkhand University for two decades.

A Trailblazer in Poetry and Education

Professor Barelvi has been honored with several accolades, including the “Firaq Gorakhpuri International Award,” the “Kalidas Gold Medal” (awarded by the Haryana government), the “Begum Akhtar Kala Dharmik Award,” and the “Naseem-e-Urdu Award.” His illustrious career has earned him nearly three dozen prestigious awards.

The event in Lucknow, organized through the collaborative efforts of Arshi Alvi and Faisal Khan, was overseen by Rehan Khan, the founder of Bazm-e-Urdu Dubai, and retired Engineer Arif Siddiqui, a dedicated Urdu enthusiast and supporter.

Distinguished Guests and Global Presence

The ceremony witnessed the presence of special guest Mr. Rehan Khan, founder of Bazm-e-Urdu Dubai, who traveled from Canada for this occasion. Dr. Ammar Rizvi, former Acting Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and former principal of Shia College for 28 years, graced the event as the chief guest. Dr. Ammar Rizvi, an influential leader, has played a pivotal role in education.

Apart from these dignitaries, the event was attended by several esteemed personalities, including retired Mr. Rizwan Ahmed and Mr. Javed Ahmed, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Piyush Moradiya, ADG Zone Lucknow, Dr. B. R. Viplavi, retired IPS officer, Mr. G. K. Goswami, Chief Editor of khaleej Times Dubai, Mr. Mazhar Farooqui, Samajwadi Party Spokesperson Naved Siddiqui.

Author and columnist Ali Khan Mahmoodabad, Tariq Siddiqui from AMU, Tariq Khan from Lucknow Film Club, Industrialist Akhtar Ali Siddiqui, and Asghari Naqvi, founder of the Sanatkada Festival, Imad-ul-Malik, CEO Sharaf Exchange, Dubai.
