UP: CBI arrests deputy chief engineer of Northern Railways, two others in bribery case | Lucknow Information




LUCKNOW: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested deputy chief engineer-II (IRSE 2006), Northern Railways, Charbagh, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), a contractor and his son (each bribe givers) in an alleged bribery of Rs 5 lakh on Wednesday
It was alleged that the accused demanded the bribe from the stated contractor of a personal firm primarily based at Kosi Kalan, (Uttar Pradesh) for exhibiting undue favor in expeditious processing of due funds.
These arrested have been recognized as Harish Kumar, deputy chief engineer-II, constructions, Northern Railways, Charbagh, Lucknow and Virendra Tomar and his son Prashant Tomar (each bribe givers) of M/s Tomar Building, Kosi Kalan, Uttar Pradesh.
A case was registered on November 7, 2023 towards 10 accused together with public servants of Northern Railway, Lucknow and others.
It was alleged that the general public servants posted at Northern Railways, Hazaratganj, Lucknow entered right into a conspiracy with non-public contractors and have been exhibiting undue favor in approving funds for variation/deviation, expeditious processing of due funds, in lieu of unlawful gratification, stated CBI.
Searches have been carried out at Lucknow, Jaunpur, Kosi Kalan (Uttar Pradesh) at a number of premises of accused which led to restoration of Rs 52 lakh (approx); locker keys, digital objects and incriminating paperwork.
The arrested accused shall be produced earlier than the courtroom on Thursday.
