Former BJP MLA Jitender Singh Shunty lodged a criticism with the Delhi Police on April 29 after he a acquired demise risk allegedly from a Khalistani extremist.

In response to the criticism filed by Mr. Shunty, a Padma Shri awardee, he recieved a WhatsApp name on April 29 through which the caller spoke in Punjabi and threatened to kill him and his son. “I acquired a name on WhatsApp throughout which the (nameless) caller threatened to kill me and my son Sardar Jyoti Jeet,” he said in a letter written to Shahdara Deputy Commissioner and Vivek Vihar SHO on Monday.

Talking to ANI, Mr. Shunty mentioned the caller spoke to him for about 35-40 seconds earlier than hanging up. He claimed that the caller accused him and his son of talking “loads in opposition to Khalistan”.

“Yesterday, at 12.59 p.m., I acquired a WhatsApp name throughout which a Khalistan supporter primarily based in Punjabi mentioned: ‘You and your son converse loads in opposition to Khalistan. Now your final time has arrived’. The individual spoke for about 35 to 40 seconds earlier than disconnecting the cellphone,” he mentioned.

In his letter, Mr. Shunty claimed to be a goal and ‘beneath fixed risk’ from radical extremist organisations. “We’re beneath apprehension of being attacked by pro-Khalistan extremists,” he talked about in his letter.

He added that his son was a spokesperson of the BJP in Delhi and has been talking in opposition to Khalistani extremism in tv interviews in addition to different platforms. “Not too long ago, his video of holding a placard in opposition to Khalistan at Delhi’s Connaught Place went viral throughout the globe,” he added.

Mr. Shunty is the founding father of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal and Shaheed-Ae-Azam Bhagat Singh Basis. He joined the BJP in 2008 and gained the Delhi meeting elections from Shahdara in 2013. He was conferred with the Padma Shri in 2021 for his philanthropic providers in the course of the Covid-19 pandemic. He devoted the civilian honour to his fellow frontline employees.
