Mahua Moitra’s Vital Obligation: Join the Ethics Committee Meeting without Unnecessary Drama – Sukanta

Sukanta also took a dig at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that he fears that all the corrupt TMC members (Mahua Moitra) will have to go to jail.

Sukanta Majumdar, the President of the West Bengal BJP, has turned his focus on Mahua Moitra, the leader of Trinamool Congress (TMC), regarding allegations of “cash for query.” He’s calling for a straightforward approach, urging her to participate in the Ethics Committee meeting without any unnecessary theatrics.

In addition to this, he also didn’t hold back in his criticism of West Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, suggesting that she’s concerned about the possibility of corrupt TMC members facing legal consequences.

Sukanta Majumdar emphasized that Mahua Moitra should engage in the Ethics Committee meeting without creating unnecessary commotion. He asserted, “Mamata Banerjee is evidently apprehensive because those engaged in corrupt activities may eventually have to face legal repercussions.”

Furthermore, Jyotipriya Mallick expressed the viewpoint that Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee should be held accountable for everything. These developments came to light during Sukanta Majumdar’s statements on Monday.

The Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee, responsible for probing the accusations of “cash-for-query” against TMC MP Mahua Moitra, has rescheduled its meeting for November 9 to review and approve the preliminary report. Initially, the panel, presided over by Vinod Kumar Sonkar, had planned to convene on November 7.

The committee’s agenda for the Lok Sabha focuses on evaluating and adopting the preliminary report pertaining to the complaint lodged on October 15, 2023. This complaint relates to the alleged direct involvement of Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey in the “Cash for Inquiry” case involving Mahua Moitra, as outlined in the agenda.

Mahua Moitra appeared before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on November 2 regarding the allegations of cash-for-query. She left the meeting with the opposition members on Thursday. Opposition members raised questions on the list of questions and alleged that personal questions were asked to the TMC MP.

Those who left the meeting included BSP MP Danish Ali, Janata Dal (United) MP Girdhari Yadav, and Congress MP Uttam Kumar Reddy. Moitra alleged that she had to face disrespectful personal questions from the panel.

She described the incident as “an episode of ‘Vastra Haran’ (disrobing),” referring to a chapter in the Mahabharata where the Kauravas humiliated Draupadi, the queen of the Pandavas, in the court.

In a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday, Moitra claimed that during the meeting, she was subjected to “unethical, abhorrent, prejudiced behavior.”

Over the weekend, a Trinamool Congress MP unleashed a sharp critique against the ethics panel’s leader, Vinod Sonkar. She alleged that, during her appearance before the panel on November 2 regarding the cash-for-hire scandal, the BJP MP had posed “unpleasant, utterly irrelevant questions.”

This exchange highlighted the growing tension surrounding the investigation into the scandal.
