Peace is paramount, so is sovereignty: Akhilesh hails Ind-Pak ceasefire | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Welcoming the ceasefire between India and Pakistan that was announced on Saturday evening, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadavunderlined the importance of peace along with the sovereignty of the country. “Peace is paramount and so is sovereignty (of the country),” he posted on his X account.Akhilesh had earlier too extended full support to the Centre in handling the situation arising out of the Pahalgam terror strike.SP has repeatedly issued statements saying that the party continues to stand firmly with govt on whatever steps are being taken to root out terrorism. The SP chief had praised the Indian army for securing the borders, describing it as one of the bravest forces in the world. “After our army’s display of unmatched valour, India’s announcement of ceasefire at the instance of Pakistan is a welcome move. We are of the firm belief that the announcement of ceasefire will not only bring an end to the conflict on the borders but will also see Pakistan take effective and decisive steps to end terrorism so that a similar situation is not repeated in future,” said senior SP functionary Prof Sudhir Panwar.”Samajwadi Party also takes this opportunity to demand from govt adequate ex gratia relief and honour to all the armymen and civilians who lost their life in this conflict and made the supreme sacrifice. Our party has always stood for and honoured India’s sovereignty and peace. We will continue to do so, always,” Panwar, who is also SP spokesperson, said.
