CBI court rejects bail plea of accused in KLU-NAAC team bribery case
The CBI court dismissed the bail petitions of the NAAC inspection committee members and the vice-president, vice-chancellor and other accused of Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation (KLEF) on Monday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) New Delhi police busted a ‘bribery scam’ between the NAAC team and the KLEF management.
It was alleged that KLEF representatives colluded with the NAAC inspection committee and offered cash, gold jewellery and electronic gadgets for obtaining the A++ Grade to the university for the next five years.
Investigation officers arrested 10 accused, including the NAAC inspection committee and the KLEF representatives on February 1. They seized ₹37 lakh cash, laptops, gold ornaments and a mobile phone, which were allegedly offered to the NAAC team for doing a favour during the inspection.
The accused were sent to judicial remand and have been lodged in the District Jail in Vijayawada since then.
