LUCKNOW: Two minor schoolgirls were allegedly harassed in broad daylight by four bike-borne men while returning home from school in Deoria. The entire act was caught on a CCTV camera, and its footage went viral on social media.
The girls, who were on bicycles, lost balance and fell. One of the accused then attempted to drag one of the girls towards a nearby paddy field.Terrified, the girls screamed for help. One of them managed to escape, while the other fell while trying to flee through the fields.
Hearing the alarm, locals rushed to the scene, prompting the four accused to flee.
The girls were on their way home after taking an exam. The entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera installed in a nearby house.
Superintendent of Police, Deoria, Sankalp Sharma, said, “We have received a complaint of two girls being harassed and followed by bike riders. Based on this, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the law. Five police teams have been formed, and we are reviewing the CCTV footage.”
Sources in the police said that they have got the location of the accused and they would soon be arrested.
Earlier, on platform X, people from different walks of life shared the CCTV camera footage, which showed four men allegedly sexually assaulting the girls returning home on their bicycles in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria.
In the video, the four men can be seen waiting beside their motorcycle for the girls to pass before one of them attempts to grab one of the girls. The girl being molested gets off her bicycle and starts screaming and running ahead on the empty road, while her friend, in an attempt to save herself, plunges into the field with her bicycle. Alarmed by their screams, all the miscreants flee the spot.
