75-year-old man dies as roof collapses as a result of lightning strike in Tiruchi

A senior citizen, aged 75, died after the roof of his home collapsed on him at Mettu Vadakku Avenue at Edamalaipatti Pudur on Saturday after widespread rain within the metropolis and its environment.

P. Chellaiya, 75, was quick asleep in his home when it began raining and there have been a number of lightning strikes, considered one of which struck his home. The lightning strike broke by way of the roof, inflicting it to break down on him, killing him in his sleep round 3 p.m.

Widespread rain lashed town fore the third consecutive day on Saturday.
