BSP chief Mayawati reiterates demand for Bharat Ratna for Kanshi Ram | Lucknow Information

LUCKNOW: BSP chief Mayawati on Friday reiterated her demand for Bharat Ratna for her mentor and Dalit icon Kanshi Ram. She had first raised the demand when the Centre had determined to confer the honour on Karpoori Thakur in Jan.
“We welcome conferment of Bharat Ratna on all these chosen by the BJP govt. However it’s not applicable to particularly overlook, ignore and disrespect Dalits on this matter. The government ought to take note of it” she wrote on X.
“After Babasaheb, the battle that Kanshi Ram, did for the sake of the rights of dalits is not any much less. He must also be honoured with Bharat Ratna,” she additional wrote.
