No less than 151 Myanmarese troopers fled to Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district after their camps within the neighbouring nation have been overrun by an armed ethnic group, an Assam Rifles officer stated on Saturday.

The Myanmarese military personnel, also called the ‘Tatmadaw,’ fled with their arms and approached the Assam Rifles at Tuisentlang in Lawngtlai district on Friday after their camps close to the worldwide border have been overrun by the Arakan Military fighters, he stated.

The officer stated that there had been intense gunfights between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Military fighters for the previous few days in areas near the Indian border.

He stated that a number of the Myanmarese Military personnel, who entered Mizoram on Friday, have been critically injured and first aids have been administered to them by the Assam Rifles.

The Myanmar military troopers are actually within the secure custody of Assam Rifles at Parva in Lawngtlai district close to the Myanmar border, he stated.

The Myanmar troopers will probably be despatched again to their nation in some days as talks are happening between the Ministry of Exterior Affairs (MEA) and the Myanmar army authorities, he added.

They have been airlifted by the Indian Airforce to Moreh in Manipur, from the place they crossed the worldwide border and entered Tamu, the closest border city in Myanmar.
