Two low-intensity earthquakes recorded in Bidar


Two tremors with magnitudes of 1.9 and a pair of.1 on the Richter Scale respectively have been recorded by the Karnataka State Pure Catastrophe Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) Community in Bidar district early on November 5.

The KSNDMC officers, nevertheless, made it clear that the magnitude and intensities noticed within the earthquakes have been very low and didn’t hurt the area people.

As per the data supplied by the KSNDMC officers, the primary earthquake with a magnitude of 1.9 on the Richter Scale was recorded at 04:22:58 a.m. Its epicentre was 1.7 km north-northeast (NNE) of Waddankera village at Madargaon Gram Panchayat in Humnabad Taluk, Bidar District.

The second earthquake with a magnitude of two.1 on the Richter Scale was recorded at 06:04:10 a.m. having the identical epicenter.

The epicentre of the earthquakes is o 1.9 km west of Nimbura village at Sitalgera Gram Panchayat, 2.1 km south-southwest (SSW) of Allura village at Madargaon Gram Panchayat, (each in Humnabad taluk) and 12 km east-northeast (ENE) of Humnabad Taluk and 11 km north northeast (NNE) of Chittaguppa Taluk.

“As per the Seismic Depth map of the above Earthquakes from the Epicentre, the depth noticed may be very low and the tremor is likely to be felt as much as a radial distance of 20-25 km from the epicentre. A majority of these earthquakes wouldn’t create any hurt to the area people because the intensities noticed are very low, although there is likely to be native vibrations felt. The epicentre falls in Seismic Zone II and the area is void of any structural discontinuities as per the Tectonic map. The group needn’t panic because the magnitude and intensities noticed are very low,” the KSNDMC Director famous within the alert that was later launched to the media.
