Vishal expresses gratitude to PM, I&B Ministry for swift motion on CBFC


MUMBAI: Actor Vishal, who predominantly works in Tamil cinema, had earlier referred to as out the Central Board of Movie Certification in India (CBFC) as he accused them of asking for a bribe to grant the certificates for the Hindi launch of his movie ‘Mark Antony’. Now, after the Ministry of Data & Broadcasting (MIB) assured him of swift motion, the actor thanked the ministry on social media.

The I&B ministry initiated a probe into the claims made by the actor after he alleged that the Central Board of Movie Certification (CBFC) workplace in Mumbai demanded a bribe of Rs 6.5 lakh for the certification of the Hindi dubbed model of ‘Mark Antony’.

On Saturday, Vishal took to his X (previously Twitter), and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the I&B ministry, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

The actor wrote on his X: “I sincerely thank @MIB_India for taking fast steps on this essential matter pertaining to corruption concern in #CBFC Mumbai. Thanks very a lot for the mandatory motion taken and positively hoping for this to be an instance for each authorities official who intends to or is a part of corruption and to take the sincere path to serve the nation and never the steps of corruption.”
