UP Minister Satish Sharma faces all-round flak over shivling gaffe, known as ‘adharmi’ by opposition | Lucknow Information

BARABANKI: Uttar Pradesh Minister Satish Sharma confronted flak from the opposition Monday after a video surfaced on-line displaying him washing his palms at a shivling within the Lodheshwar Mahadev temple in Barabanki.
The video clip confirmed Minister of State for Meals and Civil Provides washing his hand within the ‘argha,’ or the bottom, of the shivling with the assistance of a priest.
Congress and Samajwadi Social gathering took exception to the act and demanded resignation of the minister for “insulting the Sanatan dharma.”
Minister Sharma countered the allegations saying he did nothing improper, if he had, the priest would have stopped him.
The priest of the temple stated that because the minister’s had ‘prasad’ in his hand, he helped him wash them within the ‘argha’ of the shivling and there may be nothing improper on this.
The incident occurred on August 27, when Sharma visited the temple with Public Works Minister Jitin Prasad.
Sharma and district in-charge minister Jitin Prasad had gone to Hetmapur village of Ramnagar tehsil to distribute aid materials to the flood victims and each of them had stopped to hope on the temple.
UP Congress President Ajay Rai stated, “The minister ought to know what he’s doing. Will we wash our palms once we provide water and pay our respects? The minister has insulted Sanatan Dharma.”
Congress chief Surendra Rajput stated Satish Sharma had insulted the Lord Shiva along with his act and should be sacked.
“Washing palms within the ‘argh’ of shivling is an unrighteous act. Solely those that don’t care about Sanatan Dharma can do that. The BJP minister has insulted Lord Shiva. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ought to sack him for this anti-religious act,” he stated.
Samajwadi Social gathering chief and former MLC Sunil Singh Sajan stated that if the chief belonged to another caste, BJP would have expelled him by now.
“When will Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expel this ‘adharmi’ minister? That is the true character of BJP. First they may ask for votes within the title of faith after which do such issues,” Sajan stated.
Satish Sharma informed PTI that the opposition was unnecessarily blowing up the matter.
“I’m a Sanatani Shiv bhakt. I do know very effectively what is correct and what’s improper. The opposition is unnecessarily blowing up the problem,” he stated.
“I did what I felt was proper. It was not my intention to harm anybody. If I used to be improper, the priest wouldn’t have washed my palms,” added the BJP minister.
Aditya Tiwari, the priest of Lodheshwar Mahadev Temple, stated that the minister had completed nothing improper.
“Minister Sharma had sandalwood and so on on his palms after performing the puja. When he requested to scrub his palms, they have been washed subsequent to shivling. This was completed as a result of it was within the type of prasad. There may be nothing improper on this,” Tiwari informed PTI.
