BALRAMPUR: A BJP MLA’s nephew and 11 others had been booked beneath the SC/ST Act for allegedly beating some Dalit individuals in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur, police mentioned on Monday.
A video of the alleged incident, which befell round a month in the past, surfaced on the social media following which, the motion was taken.
Within the clip, BJP’s Tulsipur MLA Kailash Nath Shukla’s nephew Sonu Shukla, together with others, was seen beating some Dalit individuals with sticks close to the tehsil gate, Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar mentioned.
He mentioned the FIR was lodged on the grievance of 1 Rakesh, a resident of Sekhuikalan and the problem is being investigated.
The MLA, nevertheless, refuted the allegations and claimed that some individuals had been attempting to malign his picture.
“Some individuals in an inebriated state entered my nephew’s store and began beating the workers there after which, he knowledgeable the police,” the MLA mentioned.
