India seeks world maritime investments forward of trade summit


New Delhi: India on Tuesday sought world investments in its maritime trade.

Forward of the World Maritime India Summit (GMIS) 2023, ports, transport & waterways minister Sarbananda Sonowal, invited buyers to take part in varied industries, thereby creating an expansive canvas for development. Alternatives span from cruise tourism to shipbuilding and maritime schooling, providing worldwide companions a multifaceted spectrum of avenues for collaboration, he mentioned.

He requested Indian ambassadors from the east and west zones to discover funding prospects within the home maritime sector. “With a possible funding exceeding INR 10 lakh crore (US$12,000 million), we’ve the capability to propel financial transformation inside our borders and resonate on a world scale. India has already inked bilateral agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with 34 nations on maritime transport and cooperation, alongside MoUs concerning the popularity of certificates of seafarers with 40 nations, he mentioned.
